Press Release

MINNEAPOLIS – Rehbein Environmental Solutions has partnered with Living Homes, which is building the only platinum LEED project in Southern California, to construct four roof top garden beds on top of the new modular model home in Santa Monica, California. Rehbein's patented roof top garden technology provides deep profile lightweight structures adaptable to the propagation of a wide variety of plants from home grown vegetables to decorative greenery and grass. The passive system incorporates rain water capture, subground irrigation and drainage, filtration of rainwater, insulation to the roof, reduction of carbon dioxide, and natural cooling effects due to pleasant vegetative growth. Rehbein was chosen as the provider primarily because the Muellner Green Roof ™ is the only technology that can provide the aforementioned features in a single system, with low maintenance features, and a relatively deep yet light profile to satisfy construction demands, while providing extensive greenery.

The systems were completed in early December of 2006, with anticipated plantings to be in ground in early 2007. The systems are currently awaiting winter storms to capture and hold storm water for irrigation. Pictures of live plants to be posted at that time.
